SEO for hypnotherapists
SEO for hypnotherapists who want to be found nearby
Most clients look for a hypnotherapist close to home, or online in their own time zone. I fix the technical foundations, build pages around what people actually search for, strengthen your Google Business Profile and make your expertise easy for Google to trust. No jargon, no shortcuts and no keyword stuffing.
The challenges
Why SEO is harder for hypnotherapists
Hypnotherapy sits close to health, competes with big directories and depends heavily on local trust. These are the problems I see most often when I review practice websites.
01
Directories take the top spots
Psychology Today, hypnotherapy directories and review sites often outrank individual practices for “hypnotherapist near me”. You need a strong Google Business Profile and pages that give Google a reason to show you too.
02
One page trying to rank for everything
Anxiety, smoking, weight, sleep, phobias and online sessions are all different searches. A single homepage can’t be the best answer to all of them.
03
Health topics need extra trust
Google holds health-related content to a higher standard. Clear credentials, honest wording, a real author and no promises of cures all matter, and they keep you on the right side of advertising rules.
04
An under-used Google Business Profile
Wrong primary category, missing services, few photos, no posts and only a handful of reviews. For local searches, this profile often matters as much as the website.
05
Slow, heavy websites
Page builders, sliders and oversized images make sites slow on phones. Speed and mobile usability affect both rankings and how many visitors actually book.
06
Online and local need different plans
Ranking in your town is a local SEO job. Reaching clients across the country for online sessions needs strong topic pages instead, and copy-and-paste “city pages” can do more harm than good.
What’s included
A complete SEO plan, checked item by item
Every practice is different, so the audit decides the priorities. These are the areas I work through.

How people search
Matching pages to real searches
Different searches need different pages. A common mistake is trying to rank one homepage for everything.
I map each important search to the page that should answer it, then make sure that page is the clearest, most helpful answer.
| Someone searches… | The page that should answer |
|---|---|
| hypnotherapist near me / hypnotherapist in Brighton | Your homepage and Google Business Profile, with clear location details |
| hypnotherapy for anxiety (or sleep, smoking…) | A dedicated page for each issue you work with |
| online hypnotherapy | A page explaining how online sessions work and who they suit |
| does hypnotherapy work for…? | A helpful article or FAQ answer, written honestly |
| how much does hypnotherapy cost | A pricing page or clear pricing section |
| your name + “hypnotherapist” | Your About page, with credentials and reviews |
My process
How an SEO project runs
01
Audit
I review your website, Search Console data, Google Business Profile and the practices you compete with, and research the searches that matter.
02
Fix the foundations
Technical issues, speed, indexing, structured data and page titles first, because content can’t perform on a broken base.
03
Build relevance
Issue and method pages, a stronger Google Business Profile, better internal links and consistent listings.
04
Measure and improve
A plain-English monthly summary: search impressions, clicks, Google Business Profile calls and booking clicks, and what I’ll do next.
What you get
The SEO audit, in your hands
- A prioritised action list: what to fix first and why
- A keyword map for your existing and future pages
- Technical issues with clear fixes
- Google Business Profile recommendations
- A short content plan for the next few months
- A snapshot of how nearby competitors are showing up
Responsible SEO
What I won’t do
- Buy links or use link networks
- Write fake reviews, or only ask happy clients through “review gating”
- Stuff keywords or create near-identical city pages
- Make health claims you can’t back up
- Promise rankings or timescales nobody can control
Honest expectations
What SEO can and can’t do
SEO takes time. Technical fixes help quickly, but building visibility for competitive searches usually takes months, not weeks. Anyone who guarantees a top position on Google is guessing.
What I can promise is that your site will be technically sound, well structured and clear about what you offer, so nothing technical holds you back. Essential SEO is included in every website I build. A full audit and ongoing SEO work are quoted after a free review, so you only pay for what your practice needs.

How long until I see results?
Technical fixes can show in weeks. Local visibility and new content usually take a few months to build. I’ll show you the changes in Search Console so you can see progress for yourself.
Do you guarantee first-page rankings?
No, and you should be cautious of anyone who does. Rankings depend on competition, your location and many factors outside anyone’s control.
What’s the difference between local SEO and SEO for online sessions?
Local SEO helps people near your office find you, mainly through Google Business Profile and location signals. For online sessions you’re competing more widely, so strong pages about the issues you help with matter more.
Should I still be listed on Psychology Today and other directories?
Usually yes. Good directories bring visitors directly and support your local presence. The goal is for your own website and profile to show up alongside them.
Do Google reviews really matter?
For local searches, yes: the number, recency and content of reviews all play a part, and they help people choose you. I’ll suggest a simple, policy-compliant way to ask clients.
Do I need a blog?
Not necessarily. Clear service pages often matter more. A few genuinely helpful articles can support them, especially for questions people ask before booking.
Can you do SEO on a site you didn’t build?
Yes. I start with an audit, fix the technical issues and improve the key pages, whatever platform you’re on.
Is SEO included in your website packages?
Essential SEO is included in every new website and redesign: titles, descriptions, headings, sitemap, structured data and speed. Ongoing local SEO and content work is quoted separately.
